From the Archive to the Podium
Key Achievements:
A graduate of the Norwegian Academy of Music under Prof. Ole Kristian Ruud, he continues to refine his craft under the iconic Jorma Panula through masterclasses in Helsinki and Denmark.
His repertoire focuses on Nordic and English composers, with a particular passion for integrating historical performance practices into modern orchestral programming.
In his debut with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK), Jarl Eivind Aspen conducted a celebrated performance of Vaughan Williams’ Fifth Symphony, captured in this recording.

The intertwined Approach:
Jarl Eivind Aspen brings a unique, intertwined approach to the podium. Drawing on years of experience as a professional orchestral oboist, his conducting style is rooted in chamber-music collaboration, organic phrasing, and a deep understanding of the inner workings of orchestral sound.
Reanimating the Archive:
He specializes in reviving the elastic tempos, sweeping portamento, and raw emotional power found in archival recordings and historical rehearsal diaries. His vision is clear: to use philosophical insights as creative catalysts, allowing music to grow and expand beyond the printed score into living, breathing, and transformative experiences.
